With post weight loss excision the procedures vary form patient to patient. You’ll be provided a set of pre-operative instructions describing how you should prepare for specific procedures. This will cover things like activities, foods and medications to avoid prior to surgery. It’s important that you familiarize yourself with and follow those instructions. It’s also important to arrange for a responsible adult to be available to take you home after the surgery and stay with you the first night if necessary.
Day of Surgery
You’ll meet with Dr. Griner and the anesthesiologist prior to surgery. This is a good chance for any last minute questions. The length of the surgery will depend on the procedures needed which are different for each patient. Dr. Griner will discuss this with you prior to surgery. Afterwards you’ll be moved into your recovery room which will typically last 1 to 1 1/2 hours before you’ll be discharged.
You’ll be provided with post-operative instructions describing foods and activities to avoid and recovery time after surgery. Depending on your situation recovery time varies however most patients return to work within 2 to 4 weeks after surgery.
