Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It breathes, can let toxins in and out, and can be a great indicator of your overall health. You can give it extra help with a physician supervised plan to help it cleanse, and look it’s best. This is in addition to good skin care practices that you should carry out each day at home.
Chemical peels are used to induce a controlled wound in the skin, removing its superficial layers. This promotes growth for a new healthy layer of skin, improving conditions such as hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and even wrinkles.
In most cases, the skin is vigorously cleansed first using a medical degreaser. After that, the appropriate peel is administered.
Usually, chemical peels should be completed within a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.
Some redness and itchiness may be felt especially for medium peels, but all of this would depend on your skin type and the type of chemical used. The redness may be present between 10 to 14 days after the treatment.
